Krishnamacharya

Krishnamacharya 1938

Sri Tirumala Krishnamacharya (1888–1989)
was the teacher of both BKS Iyengar & K. Pattabhi Jois,
which means that basically he’s responsible for the vast majority
of the Hatha Yoga that’s currently practiced in the west.
He’s fifty in this video.

LIQUID LIQUID

BEST band ever! No, really!
New York post punk band from 1980-1983...
They caught the tail end of No Wave.
Band Members:

Scott Hartley,
Richard McGuire,
Salvatore Principato, DennisYoung

Read about their history here:

I got to hang out with Sal Principato
(lead vocals/percussion) last year,
when he spun records at Holocene in Portland, Oregon.
We talked for awhile at an after party and I was happy to
find out that Liquid Liquid is working on new music.
Everything that they ever recorded was re-released
a few years ago on Domino Records.

ASTROLOGY

My band ASTROLOGY played a packed show at the Doug Fir in Portland last night. We played with Talkdemonic and IOA. For future shows check out our myspace:

BrokeAssHand Update

Yep, so my drawing (right) hand did brake.. I just couldn't tell cuz the swelling was so bad. It grew back together funny and now I have a slight lump on top of my hand. The only way it can be fixed is if they re-break it and put a cast on it... It doesn't bother me enough to do that.

ZONGAMIN

I've always dug Zongamin's uncanny music/art. Zongamin live is Susumu Mukai (bass guitar, samples), Leo Taylor (drums), Mao Yamada (guitar), Leon Harris, aka The Egyptian (percussion) and Will Sweeney (guitar, keyboard). Check out Will Sweeney's awesome art in my links!!!

LIGHT YEARS

Rene Laloux, Gandahar.
English version of Light Year

Light Years is one of favorite animated movies
and I still have the original VHF tape that I bought back in the early 90's.
It was released in the 1980's.
If you never have seen it you can watch most of it on youtube.com

blast from the past

Here's a piece I did back in 1994 when I was attending art school in florida.

Drawn with a KAIMEI LH FOUNTAIN BRUSH PEN

New Brush Pen!

I've always inked my art with a Windsor Newton series 7, No. 0 or 1, but I also use pocket brush pens for quick on the go sketches. I've been using the Pentel brush pen, mostly because the ink is a very rich, intense black, but the pen has man-made nylon bristles and I've always wondered or wished that someone would make a natural hair brush pen. Well, I found one!--
KAIMEI LH FOUNTAIN BRUSH PEN
Heres a description:

Convenient for studio or travel these brush pens have a 100% natural weasel (sable) hair brush head and use a dense black sumi ink cartridge for incredible ink work lettering and drawing. The brush head is 3/8 inch long and comes to a traditional one hair point. Natural hair resiliency is like no other brush experience and is more durable than nylon bristle brushes. The barrel of the pen is hard plastic that has been striped to give the look of stained bamboo. From brush tip to pen base the pen measures 7 inches long.

I found mine on amazon, but I came across a few other cool art suppliers that carry it. Here's a link:

http://www.wetpaintart.com/closeup.asp?cid=1531&pid=60007&offset=0

The Pentel brush pen is still great for many reasons and it is more affordable, but each pen has a totally different feeling and effect.
